COMPOSITION
PROJECT
Each member of your group will contribute to a digital resource guide on the topic of photographic composition techniques. You will work on a collective PowerPoint document in Google Drive. Individuals will select a composition technique from a hat. You will be responsible for researching and crafting a one or two paragraph definition in your own words of that composition technique and include two visual examples that illustrate the technique well. Remember, even though you are working as a group, every individual is responsible for researching and writing up their own definition, finding two pictures that illustrate it and you must commit to your assigned role when putting together the resource guide. |

STEP 1: TAKE PICTURES (25 minutes) Open composition_scavenger_hunt.docx and use this as a guide. When taking your pictures think about the artistic process of the photographers you saw in the video's. You must incorporate one or more composition techniques in each photo. Feel free to photograph any subject or use the prompts for inspiration. Remember that the goal is not to take a large quantity of images, but to think creatively and to use the techniques you learned to frame your shots in a way that will help express your ideas. Refer to the The digital resource guide and challenge yourself to take pictures using techniques you are less familiar with. STEP 2: REVIEW & SELECT YOUR BEST IMAGE (5 minutes) Review your photos and select one to share with the class. Open the Composition photo album.pptx on the Google drive and make your contribution to the class album. You will be required to create two pages, The first will be your photo and a second page in the powerpoint document (refer to Composition photo album.pptx) and Identify the composition technique(s) you used, Write up a quick artist statement (Say a little something about your photo: What decisions did you make when you took this photo? What makes this photo special? Does looking at this photo make you feel anything) and Answer the guiding question.
